How pickup works
Pickup of your classic car donation is a seamless experience with First State Autos. For higher-value donations, we prefer using an enclosed transport trailer to ensure your car arrives safely and securely. Our team will coordinate with you to schedule a pickup at your convenience, whether it's from your home or a nearby storage lot. Additionally, we’ll verify the VIN and ensure all required documentation is in order to streamline the process. Rest assured, your classic car will be treated with the utmost care throughout the pickup process.
What drives donation value
The value of your classic car donation can be significantly influenced by various factors. A well-documented service history, matching-numbers status, and original drivetrain all contribute to a higher appraisal value. Vehicles that have undergone NCRS judging or come with a Marti Report can dramatically affect their worth in the classic car market. Furthermore, the condition—whether it retains period-correct features or is a restomod—will also be factored into its value. Expect most classic cars to appraise at $5,000 or more, making them prime candidates for generous tax deductions.
Documentation you need
- Vehicle title
- Service records
- Qualified appraisal for IRS Form 8283 Section B
- Marti Report for Ford vehicles
- NCRS judging documentation for Corvettes
Delaware specifics
In Delaware, classic cars are treated with special attention under DMV regulations. While a clear title is essential for donation, bills of sale are also accepted under certain conditions. Local laws may require specific documentation to confirm the vehicle's history and ensure a smooth transfer process. When donating a classic car, it’s beneficial to understand these nuances to maximize your tax benefits and properly contribute to the community.
